Staker and Parson Companies Beautifies Local Quarry with Landscape and Xeri

Salt Lake City, UT -- 08 June 2004 -- Staker and Parson Companies, Utah's leading producer of quality sand and rock products, ready-mixed concrete, asphalt, paving, and construction services, brings "makeover mania" to the construction industry. The company recently completed the two-mile stretch near 1700 North Beck Street where their office, quarry, asphalt and concrete plants are located.

The company's property runs east of Beck Street has been landscaped with a combination of grass, trees, plants, rocks, and bark. The company's office features an excellent example of water-wise xeriscaping products from the company's landscape center. The makeover began in summer 2003 and is now fully completed.

"We are committed to improving the communities where we work and live and strive to make our locations aesthetically pleasing," said John W. Parson, President and CEO of Staker and Parson Companies. "With this project we were able to use and showcase water-efficient products from our Landscape Center. We have received enthusiastic response from our neighbors and the public."

The company's headquarters in West Haven, Utah has been recognized as the "Community Landscape of the Year" on several occasions. Recently the entrance was landscaped with sod, a dry creek bed and trees. The Spanish Fork concrete plant is receiving a similar makeover with the addition of a concrete wall.

Staker and Parson Companies has several projects and programs that support local communities. The company developed an educational program called "Rocks Build Our World," which is designed to introduce people to the aggregates industry with the goal of helping people understand the importance of these natural resources. Last year the company launched a program to support to local universities and sports teams through the promotions on its concrete mixers. The trucks are designed with school colors, athletes and mascots.
